Do you get tired of eating of the same things day after day? Well I am. This year we are going to try an experiment. One of my friends has her children take turns in choosing a fruit or a veggie that they have never seen or tasted before. Her kids liked doing it. One time her daughter chose sugar cane. Anyhow last week we started it.

I went first with Brussels sprouts. I roasted them with Olive Oil and salt. . Till they were crispy on the bottom. Dave and I were surprised at how good they were.

This week Maggie got to choose. She chose Parsnips. I roasted those as well like french fries. (Yes, I like to roast things can you tell?)

Here she is eating it. I thought they were pretty good.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Maggie. I can't believe she is 7. Maggie loves to draw and read. Some day she wants to be an artist like her Uncle Jeff.

At night I have to tell her to stop reading and go to sleep! She loves Library night. She will sit on the couch with her new books and read while waiting for us to be done.
Last night as we were going to check out she was trying to read and carry the books at the same time. She dropped them and still kept reading. She even went passed the check out before I stopped her.
She loves reading the the scriptures. She has read the New Testament and the Book of Mormon stories (the one with pictures) so many times.It reminds me that I need to read as well. She even surprised me and the Primary Presidency with, Who was the servant of Labon? and she knew it

. She is one smart cookie. She can spell like crazy. Words like Poinsettia. Now I can't spell in code to Dave any more:) We love her so much. Happy Birthday Maggie.

Happy Birthday to my favorite 5 year old. I can't believe Josh is that old.
He is our peacemaker, He loves anything to do with the Law of Motion. Not to mention any computer that comes his way. He loves to play baseball He has quite the pitch. He loves to tumble.

He is in the 25 range for his age. His doctor predicted that he is going to be 5.8 tall It used to be 5.5.

Thanks to everyone for the phone calls and presents, and cards. He loved them all. I love this first picture of Josh he was tired of the camera. Oh well.

Maggie woke up at 7 this morning ready to go play in the snow. Finally at 10 I let them go. We lost some tree branches this snow storm. Josh was not happy about getting dressed so warm. Then he smiled. We have a bunny hill that they went sledding.

This is the first year in 7 years that we have taken the kids "Trick or Treating"
Usually we only went to "Trunk or Treat" This year are ward decided not to do it.
It was fun exploring our new neighborhood with our friends that we have made. It was fun to have Our cousins Sydney and Jack come with us as well. (Glad it was a warm night.)
Then we came home and watched The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. While kids sorted their candy before going to bed. It was a fun night.

We were playing Basketball as a family. I got hurt and Dave called a time out. Maggie and Josh started crying why Dad are we going to time out? We didn't do anything. May is about as busy as the month of Dec in our family. We have mother's day, our 10 Year anniversary, My birthday, Other families birthday's. All in a week time frame.

Not to mention the end of the school year programs. We also started Josh with soccer and Maggie dance which her class was canceled due to lack of kids in the class. SAD:(

Going to the Zoo in the Snow was an interesting adventure! Kids were bundled up warm but it was very very cold. Most of the zoo was under construction. We kept trying to find the other half of the class.

We stayed with Mrs Leo thank goodness! Josh was done after the snack! Maggie had a great time because she rode the bus for the first time!!! So would I do it again? If it was more organized and not so crazy weather!

It has become a tradition for the kids to make something for the holiday's whether it is hats or hanging down things. We added Lincoln hats to the hearts that they made for Valentines.

Maggie made a George Washington hat in school and we tried to make one for Josh.

Maggie and Josh have been getting out every summer item they own. A couple of weeks ago it was the soccer gear, the tee ball set, and the razor scooter hoping that I would let them play inside.

This week they decided to go swim in the ocean. They put on their bathing suits and found the goggles. Hopefully the warm weather will arrive soon. Who knows maybe in the summer they will want the winter gear!

Duct Tape

Last night we were at my parents for dinner. After dinner my mom played with Maggie and Josh downstairs.

My mom came up after awhile looking for tape to fix a toy that has been broken for awhile. My mom told us that Maggie said duct tape fixes everything.

I could not stop laughing. We had just finished an episode of MythBusters that the whole show was aboout making things with duct tape. They enjoyed that show.

Josh wanted to watch the cannon made out of duct tape over and over again. The whole show we got wow! cool, play it again. Who knew it was going to be a hit.

She is one smart cookie! They both are. Duct Tape what an answer.

Maggie and Josh had yearly check-up on Friday. They are doing great.

Maggie is 45lbs and 45in's so she is in the 51% group for her age.

Josh is in the 21% group for his age. 36in and 31lb. We also found out that he had an earache. Not much fun.

The holidays were interesting this year since Maggie had been sick for Christmas, me in the middle of the week and Josh well he decided to be sick for New Years.

We played it really low key.

School started again and Maggie did her first report. She decided to learn about the cricket. They were supposed to pick a nocturnal animal. We learned that they hear with their front legs and eat roadkill pretty much.

Josh has been having a hard time getting into the class room. Once he gets settled he is fine. He told me something funny the other day when I picked him up. Mom I am sad. Why I asked. Josh "You left me for three hours." me"I thought you had fun" "yes but I am still sad you left me for 3 hours." It was just the way he said it that made me laugh!

Dave is back to normal 40 hours a week. instead of the 75-80. It is nice to have him back at nights.

Other than that that it is about it.

Merry Christmas everyone.

We have had an interesting Christmas this year. A few hours before all the festivities started, Maggie ended up being very sick to her stomach. No fun to have a sicky on Christmas. She is finally eating an keeping it down. Playing with her toys. and starting to be like herself.

We were very spoiled. This is only half of what we got for Christmas this year. Thank you everyone.

We have been very busy this week.

Maggie and Josh are getting better with sitting on Santa's lap this year. They didn't cry which is a first.

We had a clown come to Grandma Smith's Christmas party kids loved every minute of it.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We decided to spend Thanksgiving at our home this year. Very interesting day.

We started out by playing Bingo, made hats, tepee and cabin, watched Thanksgiving shows. Played out in the snow. It was a very relaxing day. Despite cooking a turkey for the first time. It turned out thankfully!

We decided to surprise dad at work last week when the kids had school off. They have been lucky to see their dad maybe 5 hours a week. He has been working about 70-80 hours. It will be that way until the new year.

The kids love riding the TRAX when we can. So one of the stops is Dave's work. He was surprised and we had lunch at the Gate Way. Then dad had to go back to work and we took a look at the Planetarium. It was a fun filled day.

After being out in the cold what better way to end the day with hot chocolate. What a mess but yummy.

My favorite picture of Josh's day: They were suppposted to be formed in a line. They usaully are a very good class but today's adventure it was a little overwhelming. I chuckled how they were bunched up in awe at the big graders.

1st snowfall

We woke up to snow this morning.Dug out the winter gear. Found only one pair of gloves that matched out of 5 for me.. Where they went who knows.

Maggie wanted to go out at 7:30 am. Finally at 10 I let them go. What fun snowball fights, sliding down the slide in the snow, Snow angels. They lasted a little over an hour outside. They had so much fun.. Glad to have a backyard this winter.

We were driving down to Alpine listening to conference and Josh turned to me and said word for word what President Thomas S. Monson said for about a minute. It took me off gaurd alittle.

On the way home from Alpine we were talking about our favorite talks and Josh told me that it was the Going to a birthday party song... from President Monson's talk

Maggie heard laughter from one of the talks. She told me "mom we don't laugh in church" I told her she was right and explained to her why they were laughing. and when it was ok to.

Even though they are 3 and 5 it amazes me what they remember.

Despite the pouring rain, Maggie was so excited about her first day of school.

She was disappointed when I told her she had 5 hours until it was time. It usually takes me forever to get her dressed. I chuckled when she came already dressed in her new outfit.

I watched her go down that school hall in awe. I can't believe that I have a Kindergartner! I know she is going to love it! Here goes our next adventure in life kids in school!

I am so proud of this garden. My pumpkin patch especially. Most of those vines were on my yard. We have moved them so we actually have grass to play on. So far I have counted 5 and more to come. Today we went with Dave's family to Park City and went on the Alpine Coaster. FUN!! Maggie and I road together. At first we tried to go alittle slower at the top. We didn't like the sound of braking part so the rest of the way we left the brake off and flew down! It took our breath away at how fast it was but Maggie and I were smiling the whole way down. Not to mention screaming.
